Meesho Product Image Guidelines for Suppliers: What Gets Approved in 2026
For Meesho, shoot square (1:1) images, ideally 1000 x 1000 px, with the product clearly visible on a plain white or light background. No watermark, logo, price, phone number or promotional text on any image. Blurry, cluttered or borrowed photos are the usual reasons catalogues get sent back.
Meesho’s catalogue quality check is where a lot of new suppliers lose a week. You upload forty designs, a few get flagged, and the whole batch sits in limbo while you reshoot. The rules aren’t complicated. They’re just rarely written down in one place, and the ones that are written down come from third-party guides, not from a public Meesho spec sheet.
Everything below is compiled from those guides, checked against each other. Where they disagree, we say so. Open your supplier panel and check your category before bulk shooting.

Two things the guides don’t settle: the maximum file size, and how many images a catalogue needs. Check both in the panel.
The first image decides everything
On Meesho your first image is your listing. Buyers scroll a dense grid at speed, and the photo that stops the thumb is nearly always the one that is clean, bright and obviously the product.
So treat image one as a packshot. Product centred, plain background, full product visible, no text. Save the styled, lifestyle and model images for slots two onward.
Some suppliers report that a bad first image can hold up a whole catalogue. We couldn’t confirm that from any official source, but the practical lesson holds regardless: fix the first image before anything else.
Why Meesho rejects catalogue photos
The reasons that come up across supplier guides:
-
Watermark or logo on the image. Export a clean file.
-
Promotional text such as “sale”, “offer”, a price or a phone number.
-
Blurry or low-quality photo. Shake, focus miss, or a phone photo taken in a dim room.
-
Wrong or cluttered background. A bedsheet with a pattern, a bedroom floor, a messy shelf.
-
Borrowed or copied images. Using a manufacturer’s or another supplier’s photo.
-
Wrong dimensions. Under 500 x 500 px, or not square.
Look at that list again. Five of the six are shooting problems. Only dimensions is an export setting.
How to take photos for Meesho without a studio
If you have fewer than twenty simple products, you can get approved with a phone. Here’s the setup that works:
-
Light: a big window, side-on, with a white curtain or tracing paper to soften it. No flash.
-
Backdrop: a white chart paper or a plain white sheet, curved up behind the product so there’s no horizon line.
-
Phone: turn on the grid, shoot square, tap to focus on the product, wipe the lens first. (Everyone forgets the lens.)
-
Steadiness: a stack of books or a cheap tripod. Handheld shots in soft light blur more than you’d think.
-
Edit: brighten the whites, crop to square, export at full size. Don’t add text.
Clothing is harder than it looks. Wrinkles show up in every phone photo. Steam or iron the piece, and for anything draped, shoot on a model or hanger, not a bed.
When a studio is cheaper than DIY
Be honest about your time. If you’re photographing eighty designs for a kurti catalogue, DIY means a day of shooting, a day of editing, and then a rejected batch. We covered that trade-off in DIY vs professional product photography, and the pattern is simple: one product, DIY wins. A big catalogue with the same look every time, a studio wins.
The other case is price point. Meesho sells on thin margins, so a Rs 400-per-image shoot makes no sense on a Rs 250 product. That’s why we run a starting rate of Rs 49 per photo for eligible high-volume, standardised catalogue work. “Eligible” is doing real work in that sentence: repeatable setups on simple products. Jewellery, models and styled shoots are priced by the job. We break down what a rate like that actually covers in our cost per photo guide, and the wider market ranges are in our product photography cost guide for India.
Model or no model?
For clothing on Meesho, a model image often outsells a flat lay because buyers want to see fit and drape. But the first image can still be a clean product shot, with the model images in later slots. If you can only afford one thing, put your money into a clean first image and one model shot, not ten mediocre angles.
Our studio in Rohini, Delhi works with around 14 models, listed on the Meesho photography page. If photos aren’t converting even after approval, this checklist of common mistakes is a good next read.
FAQ
What are Meesho image guidelines?
Square images, ideally 1000 x 1000 px, with the product clearly visible on a plain white or light background. No watermark, logo, price or promotional text, and no blurry or copied photos.
What size should Meesho product photos be?
1000 x 1000 px is the recommended size most guides give, with 500 x 500 px as the minimum. Always keep the image square.
How to take photos for Meesho?
Use soft window light, a plain white backdrop, a steady phone shooting in square mode, and a clean first image with nothing overlaid. Steam clothing before you shoot.
Why is my Meesho catalogue rejected for image quality?
Usually a watermark, text on the image, blur, a cluttered background, a copied photo, or wrong dimensions. Fix the first image first.
Do I need a professional photographer to sell on Meesho?
No. For a handful of simple products, a phone and good light are enough. A studio makes sense when you have many designs, need a consistent look, or sell clothing and want model shots.
Can I put my brand logo on Meesho images?
Not on the product image. Logos and watermarks are a common rejection reason.
Specs here are compiled from third-party supplier guides, not an official Meesho document. Last checked October 2026. Confirm in your supplier panel before bulk shooting.
