Amazon vs Flipkart vs Meesho vs Myntra: Image Requirements Compared (2026)
Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho all lean toward square images on a plain white background with no text on the main image, at roughly 1000 px or more. Myntra is the outlier: 3:4 portrait, with a model for most apparel. If you sell on several marketplaces, shoot one master set with extra room around the product and crop to each platform’s ratio.
Selling on more than one marketplace means learning four slightly different rulebooks. Most sellers do one of two things: shoot four separate sets (expensive) or shoot once and get rejected on two of the four (annoying). There’s a third way, which comes at the end of this post.
First, the comparison. All specs below are compiled from seller guides and vendor documentation, because none of these marketplaces publishes a single public spec sheet we could cite. Where sources conflict, the table says so.

Details, sources and caveats for each marketplace are in our individual guides: Flipkart, Meesho, Myntra and Amazon.
A warning about the Amazon column. The Amazon figures we found are not India-specific. The guide we checked says category style guides differ by marketplace, so Amazon.in may differ from what’s described. Check Seller Central for your category.
What do all four agree on?
More than the table makes it look:
-
A clean main image. Plain background, product in focus, nothing extra in the frame.
-
No overlays on the main image. No text, watermark, logo, border or price.
-
Real photographs. Illustrations and obviously digital graphics get flagged.
-
Matching the listing. Colour, pattern and variant in the photo must match what you sell.
-
Resolution. Bigger is safer. Everything below 1000 px on the long side risks soft zoom or rejection.
If you get these five right, you’ve cleared most of what trips sellers up on all four platforms.
Where they differ
-
Ratio. Myntra’s 3:4 versus everyone else’s square is the biggest practical difference.
-
Background tone. Amazon is strict on pure white. Others accept near-white or light neutral in some categories.
-
Models. Fashion platforms want models and gender matching. General marketplaces are looser.
-
Gallery depth. Amazon and Myntra expect or reward fuller galleries. Meesho is thinner, because buyers browse faster on cheaper items.
The shoot-once method
Here’s how to cover all four with one shoot, without doing four shoots.
-
Shoot wide. Leave plenty of space around the product, more than you’d normally frame. This is what lets you crop both ways.
-
Shoot at the highest resolution. At 6000 px or more on the long side, you can crop to 1:1 and to 3:4 and still be above every minimum.
-
Shoot on white (RGB 255), in portrait orientation for fashion, with the model’s full body in frame.
-
Edit once, then export versions: 1:1 for Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho; 3:4 for Myntra.
-
Keep an extra edit for the grey-background variant if you sell apparel on a platform that asks for it.
-
Name files by marketplace so nobody uploads the wrong crop.
This works well for simple products. It breaks for pieces that don’t fit both ratios without awkward cropping, such as very wide items or very tall ones, where a second setup is cheaper than compromise.
How many images do you need per listing?
The honest answer is “as many as buyers need to stop asking questions.” For most products, five to eight does it: main, back or side, detail, scale, in-use, and one or two for variants or contents. For fashion, add model shots at several angles. We go through the reasoning in how many product photos you actually need.
Before you shoot: a four-point checklist
-
Open your category’s image guidelines in each marketplace’s seller panel and screenshot them.
-
Decide your master framing (wide, high resolution, white).
-
List the exports you need (ratios and file names).
-
Send the screenshots and the list to your photographer.
If you want us to handle it, our Rohini, Delhi studio shoots for all four. See the marketplace photography pages. Our starting rate of Rs 49 per photo applies to eligible high-volume catalogue work, with models and styled shoots quoted separately.
FAQ
What are Amazon’s image requirements?
Commonly cited: a pure white main image, product filling about 85% of the frame, at least 1,000 px on the longest side, no text or watermarks, and up to nine images. Verify the current version in Seller Central for Amazon.in.
What is the best image size for Indian marketplaces?
Shoot at 2000 px or more on the long side and export as needed. At minimum, aim for 1000 x 1000 px square for Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho, and 3:4 at 1500 x 2000 px for Myntra.
Is Myntra different from Amazon and Flipkart?
Yes. Myntra is 3:4 portrait and expects gender-matched models for apparel, while the others lean toward square images and plain white backgrounds.
How many photos do I need per product?
Five to eight covers most products. Apparel on Myntra commonly needs at least five, and more is recommended.
Can I use the same photos on every marketplace?
Often yes, if you shoot wide and high-resolution and crop to each ratio. Check the main-image background rules on each.
Can I add text to my main image?
No. All four marketplaces generally reject text, watermarks and logos on the main image. Use later slots for infographics where allowed.
Specs are compiled from third-party seller guides and were last checked October 2026. Confirm in each seller panel before bulk shooting.
